Kelp Is On The Way: Local Nature-Based Solutions to Global Climate Challenges
A Panel Discussion – March 27, 2024
Amidst the doom and gloom of the conversation about climate change, there are reasons to be hopeful right here at home. Several local organizations are using fascinating nature-based solutions that are making an outsized impact and showing us a path forward. From remeadowing to community gardens to riverbank restorations to kelp farms, local non-profits are leading the way to restoring balance to our local environment.
Coastal Cleanups – Monthly
Our coastline is one of our most precious resources and all of us must chip in to keep it pristine. SoundWaters is leading the charge, but needs everyone’s help. We host seasonal clean-up days when we will provide you with gloves and bags to walk the public shoreline and pick up human debris. We weigh and catalog everything collected before disposing of it in the appropriate manner. Coastal cleanups are ideal for friends, families and teams.
SoundWaters Tall Ships Ball – May 10, 2024
The Tall Ships Ball is back! Join SoundWaters on May 10. Enjoy incredible food and drinks, great music, and dancing. Add exciting auctions full of unique items and experiences that money can’t buy and we’ll have the party of the decade. All this in support of Long Island Sound education for students.
SoundWaters Flotilla – July 20, 2024
Talk about a movement to protect Long Island Sound! This event actually moves – from Cove Island Park on Stamford’s east side to Boccuzzi Park on the west side – hundreds of people of all ages and skill levels paddling kayaks and paddle boards in a big, colorful flotilla of small boats, finishing with a great party celebrating a fun day and a job well done. Everyone paddling is telling their friends and family and raising money to help SoundWaters teach more underserved kids about Long Island Sound.
SoundWaters Super Splash – February 11, 2024
At high noon on Super Bowl Sunday at Cove Island in Stamford, hundreds of people of all ages will run and jump into a chilly and refreshing Long Island Sound. When they emerge (quickly), they’ll wrap themselves in towels and warm up with donuts and hot chocolate on the beach.
All in support for climate science education.
SoundWaters HarborFest

Thousands of visitors of all ages will flock to the Harbor Point Waterfront to enjoy, historic tours of Stamford Harbor, mini golf, kids boat building, marine animals, dockside boat tours and of course, the Aquarion Cardboard Kayak Race for the Mayor’s Trophy! HarborFest is Stamford’s celebration of the Harbor and all its sea shore amenities. Don’t miss it. HarborFest is not taking place in 2024. We look forward to coming back in 2025.
