It’s a boy! It’s a girl!
As our terrapins grow, we are finally beginning to tell which are male and which are female. This differentiation can be made when a terrapin’s shell reaches a length of 10 centimeters. Three of our terrapins have reached this milestone, and we have discovered that we have two males and a female! You can tell males and females apart by their tails; male terrapins (like J, the terrapin on the left) have longer, thicker tails, while females (like Q, on the right) have much thinner and shorter tails. These two are close to the same size now, but when they are fully grown, the female will be about twice the size of the male!
