Navigating on Long Island Sound
Our Sailing Academy after school students from Cloonan and Rippowam Middle School have been learning the principals of sailing. Yesterday they traveled aboard the Schooner SoundWaters to learn how these principals can apply to any size boat including our Schooner. They learned how to sail a larger vessel than their usual dragons, how to navigate on Long Island Sound, and tie those all important sailing knots. Some of our students even got a chance to steer!
Today Dolan Middle School is aboard the Schooner SoundWaters and next week all of our after school sailors will rig up their boats and set sail on Holly Pond.
