In times of COVID-19, the safety of our guests and staff remains our top priority.
In an effort to keep everyone as safe as possible and in accordance with CDC and State of CT guidelines, we have adjusted our operations to establish a contact free rental process, social distancing protocols, personal protection and a rigorous cleaning routine.
Social Distancing and Contactless Rental
•To promote social distancing, we are limiting the amount of equipment we rent.
•Online reservations and full payment are required in advance at SoundWaters.org/rentals
•Online waivers must be completed before arrival for rental. Please note, children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Children 13-17 must have an adult sign the online waiver.
•While waiting for your equipment, please stay 6-feet apart from any other guests.
•We provide contactless launch of the equipment, renters are responsible for getting in and out of the equipment by themselves.
•There will be not more than 5 renters on the dock at any time.
Personal Protection
•According to government guidelines, all guests are required to wear face masks while on shore
•All guests are required to use hand sanitizer before using the rental equipment.
•Our staff will be wearing face masks at all times.
•Staff is monitored prior to beginning of each shift for any COVID-19 symptoms.
.•All guests in double kayaks should reside together per state guidelines.
Cleaning and Disinfection
We are following CDC and State of CT guidelines for cleaning and disinfecting procedures.
•Life jackets (PFDs) will be cleaned after each use with soap and water and allowed to dry for 72 hours per recommendation of the Safe Boating Association. If you have your own PFD, we encourage you to bring it.
•Kayaks, paddle boards, paddles and ankle straps will be cleaned after each use with EPA-approved disinfectant.
•Kayak seats will be covered with a single use plastic sheet and sprayed with EPA-approved disinfectant after each use.
•All common areas like hand rails will be sanitized frequently throughout the day.
We are constantly monitoring CDC, State of CT, United States Coast Guard and National Safety Council updates and will update our procedure accordingly.

Rental Stand Location
The Paddlesports rental stand is located in Boccuzzi Park, 200 Southfield Avenue, Stamford CT. The park is next to TGM Anchor Point and just down the road from the Crabshell.
The rental stand is not located in Cove Island or in Harbor Point.

Do I need to make a reservation?
Yes, reservations are required.
What to bring
Here is a basic list of suggestions for you to bring. Not only will your trip be more comfortable, but sometimes safer. We ask that you use common sense when deciding what to bring.
- Sunscreen
- Sunglasses
- Hat or Visor
- Water or beverages w/electrolytes
- Appropriate clothing that can get wet
- Sandals, water shoes, or shoes that can get wet
- Waterproof cases, zip-lock bags, dry bags, or dry boxes to store your cell phone, keys etc
- Cell Phone
- A PFD (lifejacket) if you have one
- Waterproof Camera, or a protected camera (optional)
- Friend/Friends, Spouse, Family, a Date (optional)
- A towel to keep in your car for afterwards
- A watch or cell phone that has a clock
- A sense of humor
- A sense of adventure (required)
- Dog (optional)
- Cat (probably not, but it would be interesting to see how it panned out)

How much does it cost?

Returning more than 15 minutes late will result in a charge for an additional hour.
Returning early will not result in a refund.
Is there an age limit?
Children younger than 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Children 13-17 must have a parent/guardian sign the waiver.
Is there a weight limit?
Paddle Boards have a weight capacity of 225 pounds, and you should be capable of swimming and able to get yourself back up on the board if you fall into the water.
Single kayaks have a weight capacity of 330lbs.
Double kayaks have a weight capacity of 550lbs.
Keep in mind that this is a water sport, so you should expect to get wet. You have the potential of falling into the water so you should have the ability to swim. PFDs (Personal Flotation Devices or Life Jackets) should be worn at all times. Please understand that our rentals are not intended to be diving or swimming platforms and your safety while on the water is your responsibility. We understand that at some point you may be in the water for whatever reason. Please be safe at all times by being mindful of the depth of water, conditions, and other water craft.
Can I bring my dog?
Sure, but they must be leashed and have their own floatation device.
Can I rent all the kayaks and paddle boards for a group outing?
Not currently. Check back later this summer.
Do I have to wear a PFD (life jacket)?
For your safety we recommend personal flotation devices (PFDs), commonly known as life jackets, to worn at all time. Children under 13 are required by State Law to wear a PFD at all times. If you are older than 13, you must have the PFD on and buckled when you leave the dock. If you lose the PFD, you will be required to pay for it.
Can I cancel my reservation?
You must cancel your kayak reservation 24 hours before your scheduled kayak trip to receive a full refund. Reservations canceled less than 24 hours before the scheduled trip will be charged in full.
If we have to cancel because of weather we will refund your reservation in full.
What if the weather is bad?
SoundWaters reserves the right to cancel any trip due to weather conditions. High winds, heavy rain or imminent storms – we cancel for you – call us if you are not sure. Note that the weather changes quickly in this region, storms forecasted frequently pass us by. For this reason we reserve the right to make a determination 1 hour prior to booking times. If we have to cancel because of weather we will refund your reservation in full.
What about alcohol?
We will not rent to persons who appear to be under the influence of alcohol. We will always take the side of your safety first.

Paddling is a wonderful group activity that anyone can enjoy! We offer exclusive use of the kayaks and paddle boards for groups of all sizes. Our fleet includes, 10-Paddle Boards, 10-Double Kayaks, and 6 –Single Kayaks.
Schedule & Pricing
Our season runs May 30 – September 7, 2020 and outings can happen Monday – Friday 3pm – 7pm.
Group Outings Pricing
$1,500 – 2 hours
$2,000 – 3 hours
The price includes the exclusive use of all paddle boards, single, and double kayaks as well as paddles, and life jackets. SoundWaters staff will be on hand throughout the duration of the outing to manage check out and return of the outing and give basic paddling instruction.
