IS THERE A WEIGHT LIMIT?
Paddle Boards have a weight capacity of 225 pounds, and you should be capable of swimming and able to get yourself back up on the board if you fall into the water.
Single kayaks have a weight capacity of 330 lbs.
Double kayaks have a weight capacity of 550 lbs.
WILL I GET WET?
This is a water sport and you should expect to get wet. You have the potential to fall into the water, so you should have the ability to swim. Life jackets should be worn at all times. Our rentals are not intended to be diving or swimming platforms and your safety while on the water is your responsibility. Please be safe at all times by being mindful of the depth of water, conditions, and other watercraft.
DO I HAVE TO WEAR A LIFE JACKET? For your safety we recommend life jackets be worn at all times. CT state law requires anyone 12 or younger to wear one at all times. If you are older than 12, you must have the life jacket on and buckled when you leave the dock. If you lose the life jacket, you will be required to pay for it. CT state law also requires that all participants wear life jackets prior to May 31.
WHAT IF THE WEATHER IS BAD? SoundWaters reserves the right to cancel any trip due to weather conditions. High winds, heavy rain, or imminent storms – we cancel for you – call us if you are not sure. Note that the weather changes quickly in this region, storms forecasted frequently pass us by. For this reason, we reserve the right to make a determination 1 hour prior to booking times. If we have to cancel because of the weather we will refund your reservation in full.
CAN I BRING MY DOG? Sure, but don’t forget their leash and life jacket! All dogs are required to wear their own life jacket.
