Volunteers Made a Difference

Our hats off to more than 50 teens, adults and families who made a difference on Saturday, Oct. 5,  to protect coastal birds and animals from trash and litter left by visitors to Cove Island Park.  Working in teams, they collected and recorded more than 600 cigarette butts as well as pieces of plastic, glass and bottle caps. Students volunteered from Westhill, Stamford, AITE and Darien high schools, and Turn of River, Rippowam, Whitby, Newfield, Fox Run, Gray Farms, and the nearby Cove Neighborhood Association.
