SoundWaters Merges with Young Mariners Foundation

This is to share the exciting news that the Boards of SoundWaters and the Young Mariners Foundation have agreed to merge the two organizations under the SoundWaters brand.For the past eighteen years, the Young Mariners Foundation has provided afterschool enrichment classes and summer sailing camp for 5th graders and older children, with over 2,400 underserved children served to date.

The Young Mariners Program will now become the Young Mariner Academy, operating as part of SoundWaters and continuing at Boccuzzi Park and at Greenwich Point. The SoundWaters Board and staff are very enthusiastic about joining forces with Young Mariners.  Together, we have the opportunity to significantly expand our capacity to meet the needs of underserved students.  Together, we will transform Stamford Harbor into a vibrant destination for the Waterside neighborhood and the larger community.

We are also delighted that four members of the Young Marines Foundation will be joining the SoundWaters Board; Tom O’Connell, Maureen Bailie, Greg Gigliotti and Fred Lorthioir.
