Terrapin Update
While in Anchorage, six of the terrapins were treated for minor bacterial shell infections. We are carefully monitoring these six terrapins, keeping the healing spots on their shells clean with a betadine solution, and ensuring that their shells continue to grow and develop properly! All of these terrapins are otherwise active, eating well, and healthy.
Exercise is important for our terrapins’ growth and health! In addition to the swimming they are able to do in their individual habitats, each terrapin gets 15 minutes daily of swimming time in a large tank. As they grow larger and stronger, they will be moved to larger habitats and spend more and more time swimming.
