The Great Water Mystery is Solved!

Third Graders of Stillmeadow Elementary School jumped right into solving science mysteries today.

They used their knowledge of the Long Island Sound watershed to figure out the source of several water samples.  Students cracked the code by taking the salinity of each water sample to determine if the water was fresh,  brackish, or salty.

What is brackish water you ask? The 3rd Graders of Stillmeadow won’t hesitate to answer that one! Brackish is the water in Long Island Sound, a mix of fresh and salt water!
