Water Quality sampling, testing & analysis with SoundWaters
Every 6th grade student at King Low Heywood Thomas is engaged in a rigorous, hands-on year long environmental science and service learning program with SoundWaters. Using scientific field equipment all students have performed water quality experiments including turbidity, soil filtration and analysis of samples to determine clarity, pH levels and flow rate. Students also learned what animals live in Long Island Sound and experience some: oyster toadfish, sea stars, terrapins and horseshoe crabs first hand.
