Fall Adventure Series
After-School at SoundWaters
The SoundWaters Fall Adventure Series programs provide students with an after-school opportunity to get outside and have fun on and near the water, socialize with their peers, and engage in dynamic science learning focused on the Long Island Sound.
The program meets once a week for eight weeks. Programs for children in grades 1 – 5 take place at the SoundWaters Coastal Education Center in Cove Island Park. Programs for children in grades 6-8 take place at the SoundWaters Harbor Center in Boccuzzi Park. Tuition waivers are available for students eligible for Free or Reduced Lunch. Grades 1-2
This eight-session program will provide a fun escape while students enjoy outdoor activities in a natural environment. Each session will present a new adventure in or near the water as students explore the diverse habitats of the coast of Long Island Sound. Meeting the many creatures that inhabit these special habitats is sure to be a highlight! Each session meets once a week for eight weeks.
Wednesdays session will be the only sailing session for grades 1-2. Students will set sail on Holly Pond in our Dragon Sailboats.

Grades 3-5
Sailing is a terrific way to be physically active, develop new skills, and learn to work together with teammates. This eight-session program provides students with the opportunity to learn to sail on the Optimus Pram, a great beginner sailboat. SoundWaters sailing instructors and educators will guide students on the boats and help them learn about the science and fascinating creatures of the Long Island Sound. Each session meets once a week for eight weeks.
Wednesdays session are the only non-sailing sessions. Each of these sessions will be a new adventure diving into Long Island Sound! Students will explore the animals living in the Long Island Sound, perform experiments, and finish the program with a fun science fair!

Grades 6-8
Middle school students can learn and practice more advanced sailing skills in Stamford Harbor! Sailors will sail with a partner as they command a two-sail 12′ RS Feva. Students received expert coaching in basic sailing skills, small sailboat tactics and racing, seamanship, and fun sailing games! Along the way students will explore and discover the diverse environments and fascinating creatures of Long Island Sound.
