Meet Tim, Camp SoundWaters Lead Sail Instructor! Tim has been working for Camp SoundWaters for 8 years. Get to know Tim below!

What college do you attend?

I’m in the class of 2019 at Southern Connecticut State University and study Biology.

How long have you been a sail instructor?

I got my sailing instructor certification in 2015 and this will be my fourth year teaching it.

What is your favorite part about being a sail instructor? 

My favorite part of being a sailing instructor is seeing kids that start out Monday a little nervous and unsure of sailing and seeing them again on Friday. After having sailed a full week doing drills, going on distance sails, encountering high winds, and even sailing backwards it’s a huge transformation. They become confident and sure of their abilities and tend to fall in love with the sport.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I spend as much of my free time as I can boating, fishing, hiking, climbing and downhill skateboarding. I love to take my dog out for runs, any outdoor activity makes me happy.
