SoundWaters receives $30,000 grant from Impact Fairfield County
We are very pleased to share the news with you that SoundWaters was awarded a $30,000 grant from Impact Fairfield County. In a competitive process, more than 60 non-profit organizations applied for a series of Impact grants totaling $160,000 and we were honored to be selected as one of three finalists.
We applied for the Impact grant to fund “Living Harbor Project. Connecting Low Income Communities to the Environment.” This initiative represents SoundWaters first focused effort to rehabilitate and upgrade the infrastructure at our new teaching site at Boccuzzi Park to enable greater access to Stamford Harbor and SoundWaters programs and resources for underserved students and residents of the surrounding Waterside neighborhood and the wider Stamford community.
We are extremely grateful to Impact Fairfield County for making this grant available and honored to have been selected as one of three finalists. Congratulations to Inspirica for receiving the primary grant and to our co-runner up, Neighbors Link for their inspired work. More information about Impact Fairfield County.
We look forward to working with this exciting new SoundWaters funder to achieve our mission to protect Long Island Sound through education.
This is a very exciting time at SoundWaters as we launch our first season of educational programs at Boccuzzi Park following our merger with Young Mariners. We are increasing the number of students we can serve and the types of experiential programs we offer. We encourage you to follow our progress and look forward to announcing exciting new initiatives in the coming months.
