Young Mariners Academy is a unique summer enrichment experience for students entering grades 6-9. There is a strong emphasis on sailing instructions to encourage teamwork, leadership, and learning while promoting a close sense of community.
Young Mariners Academy: June 22 – July 24 Open to students entering grades 6-7, this session focuses on building sailing skills, confidence and teamwork. In addition to sailing the students learn about navigation, marine life, weather, and tides and how these key sailing skills relate to school subjects such as math, reading, science, geography, and writing.
Young Mariners Academy Instructors are Stamford Public School teachers and SoundWaters educators with a special understanding of the education and social needs of the students. All sailing instructors are US Sailing certified.
Students must commit to all 5 weeks of the program, have basic swimming skills and be comfortable in the water.
Young Mariners Academy operates out of the SoundWaters Harbor Center in Boccuzzi Park.

$2,000 for 5-weeks
