Fishy Adaptations!
Creativity met with science this week at Old Greenwich School! First graders in the SoundWaters after school program learned about the adaptations a fish has to help it survive in the Long Island Sound, including the different types of fins. They even designed their own fish with special adaptations specific to their habitat!
Creations ranged from the green Eater fish which lives in seaweed and eats everything with its giant mouth, to the Shiny fish which lives in banks and uses its fangs to eat the blood of fish who try to steal money.
It was so much fun seeing where the students’ creativity took them, and even better to see that they truly understood the concept of adaptations!
