Population study of animals that live in the shallow water

STEM Academy students wore waders and life jackets and fished for animals in the intertidal zone as part of their population study. Everyone worked together to maneuver a 10′ seine net and dip nets. The students collected, counted and identified 3 species of fish, shrimp, hermit crabs and a horseshoe crab! Great job everyone!

Great trawl today

The campers from Cold Spring Harbor Boat club had a great trawl today. Not only did they pull up this ginormous fluke, they also pulled up 5 horseshoe crabs, 4 mantis shrimp, 3 large scups, 2 sea robins, and 3 window pane flounder.
