Life’s a Beach with Westover Elementary 1st Graders

Westover Elementary 1st Graders went out to explore the sandy beach at SoundWaters this week. They learned all about the different bivalves and univalves that live in Long Island Sound. No shell left unturned! Working together gathering data, conducting experiments and having fun outdoors made for a wonderful day!  

Stepping the masts, as easy as 1,2,3

The captain and crew stepped all three masts this morning on the schooner SoundWaters.  Now that the masts are in the crew will be busy attaching the standing and running rigging.        

The Schooner SoundWaters is back in the water!

The Schooner SoundWaters broke ice as it went back in the water this morning. The masts and rigging will go back up tomorrow.  The Schooner will return to Stamford on March 31 and education sails will begin on April 15.   

Spring into Science with SoundWaters!

SoundWaters first official spring field study took place today with a visit from every Hart Magnet Elementary School 3rd grader. Snowy start to the Schooner volunteer day.

Thanks to all those who came out on Saturday to the snowy Schooner volunteer day.  After shoveling the snow, and building a snowman, we were able to take the cover off and prepare the Schooner for the upcoming season.
